Pay
Wages vary depending on the type of performance, but comedians may earn $50 a night if working at a bar or up to $100 for 10 minutes work if they are working at a corporate performance. For further information on wages contact the

According to the 2006 Census, comedians earned an average of $23,700 a year and worked an average of 22 hours per week. This includes full and part-time workers.

Career Progression
Comedians may move into hosting live events, and performing as masters of ceremony. Conferences and motivational speaking can be lucrative for comedians and they may also facilitate team building exercises.
Some comedians move into radio hosting, television presenting and writing for print media or the Internet.
